AI Essentials / Literacy (eLearning EN)

This learning journey takes you through the technologies and techniques behind intelligent applications such as expert systems, ChatGPT, and image recognition. It is highly suitable for AI literacy.

We explain artificial intelligence (AI) in an accessible way and cover the key foundational techniques, such as data analysis, machine learning, and deep learning. We also explore various application areas, including clustering, classification, (custom) GPT models, speech and music generation, and expert systems.

This 8-hour e-learning is accredited at BCS Essentials level. See the course materials for more information. The programme prepares you for an exam that can be taken via EXIN. This e-learning is intended for a broad professional audience who want to get an accessible introduction to artificial intelligence. No technical background is required: the programme explains the fundamentals without complex mathematics or programming knowledge.

As this programme is designed as a broadly accessible entry-level course, it is explicitly not limited to IT professionals, but intended for anyone who wants to understand AI in an informed and responsible way.

This learning journey provides a clear overview of the technologies and techniques behind modern AI applications, such as expert systems and image and speech recognition. You will learn what AI is, which core techniques are used, and how these translate into practical applications, including numerical models, classification, chatbots, speech and text processing, GPT models, and expert systems.

The programme is accredited at BCS Essentials level and prepares you for the EXIN examination. After completion, you can progress to follow-up pathways such as AI Foundation, Cognitive Augmentation, or Data Driven Business Leadership.

Learning objectives:
- Understand why data, data science, and AI are vital for the future
- Discover what data science and AI are and how they transform organisations
- Learn what algorithms, machine learning, and GPT/LLM models are and how they are applied
- Build your first AI models in our AI Playground
- Develop awareness of the risks, ethics, and dilemmas surrounding AI and how to mitigate them
- Understand the EU AI Act and Human Centric Trustworthy AI
- Know how to start with a concrete use case within your own work practice

This learning path consists of:
- an eLearning consisting of a series of multi-media micro-learnings
- access to our AI playground in which you build your first AI models and can practice prompting
- quizzes to test your knowledge
- support via our AI 'learning buddy' to experience an Agent helping you
- examples of advanced agents including our EU AI Act Buddy

You can additionally opt to take the EXIN / BCS exam and gain the certification that you are 'AI Literate'. See separate product 'exam voucher'

After completing the Essentials, you can further deepen your knowledge by following AI Foundation, Generative AI and Prompting, or AI Ethics. We are happy to help you design your learning pathway based on your interests and needs.

This training is an 8-hour e-learning. It can also be followed as a blended programme, where you combine the e-learning with an additional one-day classroom session.
